Introduction to Design

The course teaches the comprehensive concept of design, including what design is, the multiple characteristics of design (art, technology and economy), the complex connection between design and culture and history, the ethical issues and methods of design, the commonality and characteristics of knowledge and skills of multi-professional designers, and the improvement of cognition of design under the background of cross-professional knowledge.

Photography Basics

The teaching of photography basic courses focuses on the fundamentals of photography and the entire process of image creation, comprehensively and systematically learning relevant professional knowledge and skills. Through digital media technology and the combination of artistic concepts and digital technology, practical creation and research are conducted on the language of static and dynamic video related images, cultivating the creative ability of independent photography, photography, editing, and synthesis of film and television works. Graphic  Design

Graphic design is one of the required courses on the basis of design discipline. Graphics is a kind of design language, is the carrier of information transmission, the use of visual symbols to express thoughts and feelings of the graphical method, it involves all aspects of art design. Through systematic training in cognition and methods of patterns and graphics, this course aims to improve students' ability to discover and solve problems, cultivate students' ability of creative design thinking and visual language expression, and master innovative thinking and methods of cross-domain design application of new media, so as to achieve the purpose of rapid transmission and communication through graphics language.
The main content of the course: It mainly teaches modern graphic design from the aspects of graphic cognition, graphic thinking, graphic semantics, graphic design principles, graphic functions, graphic basic modeling elements, graphic design expression and so on. Design Besic

The course will predominantly explore teaching through the following aspects:
Form and Emotion: Form is a pivotal expressive language in design, and emotion is a crucial content. Understanding the inherent connection between form and various emotions is essential; it is also the key by which designers infuse vitality into their creations.
Form and Function: Form, in the designer's mind, is intrinsically linked to function. Achieving harmony between form and function is a central aspect of form design. The course will aid students in comprehending the relationship between form and function, laying a strong foundation for their future professional pursuits.
Form and Culture: Form itself is an external manifestation of spirit, thus capable of carrying cultural essence. Knowledge of relevant cultures enhances the cultural value of creative form ideas.
Form and Science: Science and technology significantly influence form. For instance, changes in data directly impact form. Extracting inspiration from science is a vital source for form creativity.
Form and Technology: The course itself will adapt to changes in design technology, guiding students to employ novel and distinctive modes of expression in their explorations of creative form design.
Form and Expression: Expression is the backbone of design education. Proficient expression is necessary to convey the intrinsic significance of form and enable it to function as an effective tool for communication with the external world.
The course will adhere to three instructional approaches: inheritance, exploration, and connection. It will inherit design methods related to form elements, explore both internal and external forms of creative form concepts, and establish a connection with the requirements of professional design practice.

Creative programming and Design

This course is a basic course for art and design majors. It mainly introduces the basic principles, algorithms, processes and tools of design artists using programming methods to create various design creative works. Students will learn the basic knowledge and development process of creative programming, understand the design mode, classical algorithm and implementation mechanism widely used in creative programming works, and be able to flexibly use the technical framework of creative programming such as Arduino, processing and p5js. Fundamentals Model

Model making is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in product design. It is a course which has the closest connection between theory and production practice in the curriculum system of product design specialty and plays a supporting role in professional basic theory and basic skills training. This course is based on the basic courses and looks forward to the professional courses. "Ergonomics Design":

However, neither of these approaches alone can effectively meet the practical teaching needs in the field of "Design." Instead, there should be an optimization and integration of knowledge points based on the training system and curriculum logic of design majors. This can create a "Ergonomics Design" course with distinctive features that align well with the foundational theoretical support needed by design majors. The integration of online and offline teaching methods can effectively fit into this teaching approach that combines theory and practice.
This course is developed based on this perspective. It systematically analyzes and explains the position and role of "Ergonomics Design" in design from the perspectives of knowledge, methods, and design practice. Drawing on knowledge points like "Anthropometry and Anatomy," "Human Physiological Characteristics," "Human Biomechanics," "Perception Analysis," "Input-Output and Control of Information," and "Environmental Behavioral Psychology," this course combines human-machine analysis and research methods. Design Psychology is a required course for undergraduates majoring in product design. Manufacturing Technology and CMF, as a professional course of product design, aims to improve students' ability to master the basic manufacturing technology of products and the basic principles and design methods of Color, Material and Finishing.
This course is closely integrated with theoretical teaching and requires students to have an understanding of product manufacturing processes, the history of CMF design, development trends, and related application content. "Product Theme Design 1" is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in product design. This course is specially set up for the subdivision of design disciplines - product design. While the course guides students to have a more systematic and comprehensive understanding and cognition of product design, it is hoped that through the course, students will have a deeper understanding of the product design process, a more comprehensive thinking about product design thinking, and a more systematic understanding of product design methods.
The content of this course is mainly divided into two parts, focusing on the innovative design of products (morphological bionics) based on user needs, scene attributes, and natural attributes. Guided by the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, the course examines the role of design and its intervention methods in sustainable development. Through explanations of design theory and analyses of case studies, the course uncovers the significance, value, and methods of sustainable product design. It nurtures students' thinking patterns for sustainable product design, establishes a corresponding knowledge framework for sustainable product design, facilitates comprehension of the objectives and tasks of sustainable product design, and imparts the fundamental processes of sustainable product design.
Design project III embodies typical integrated and innovative design features. The course encompasses a wide array of knowledge and methods, with related theories presented coherently and naturally within the course. The emphasis lies in efficiently integrating previously acquired theories, techniques, and methodologies, and conducting design in a systematic and innovative manner.

Creative design workshop A

"Design Creativity Workshop A" is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in product design. Supported by studio instructors and their projects, the course is highly practical, aiming to cultivate students to master certain theoretical foundations, be able to systematically and step by step promote design concepts, and form specific design schemes with market and social value.
As one of the important courses of the college's "education, research and production " training system, this course belongs to the first stage of the workshop teaching course series. The course is based on the professional teachers and actual projects of each studio in the School of Design and Art, which not only gives students a more free range of choices, but also enables students to integrate practical projects more closely in design and receive professional guidance. "Interactive Design” is a compulsory course for undergraduates majoring in product design.
