Dave Arneson – Taking His Adventures To A Higher Plane

David Lance Arneson passed away on the 7th of April, 2009 after losing his battle with cancer.  Though he and Gary Gygax may not always have seen eye-to-eye, Dave Arneson was most definitely the co-father of Dungeons and Dragons, the ultimate archetype of all things Role Playing Game (RPG).

Like Gary’s death last March, Dave’s death is a blow to fantasy lovers and RPGers world-wide.  These men were the very birth of the dream, and many a geekish hour spent transfixed in worlds of fantasy and wonderment, sometimes with pencil and paper, rolling dice, and sometimes just with the power and freedom of the mind.  Dave’s imagination was an inspiration to us all, and he will be sorely missed.

Gary Gygax Died!

Oh my gods!

Everywhere hardcore 1st Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons geeks are in mourning!

For those of you who aren’t geeks like me, Gary Gygax co-authored Dungeons and Dragons from the very beginning. He was one of the most ingenious people to ever grace TSR (Tactical Studies Rules), the makers of Dungeons and Dragons. His inspiration was the heart and soul of AD&D. After he left TSR, Dungeons and Dragons was just never the same. And now, it never will be. Gary, you will be missed.
