It’s Nice To Be Reminded That We Really Can Play Nice Together

Sometimes you forget that people across this big blue marble actually can get along and work towards a common goal. And just when you start to feel cynical and jaded, you catch an inspiring story of togetherness, like the International Space Station.

Small picture of the International Space Station.

The other day the ESA just launched a first for them, the Jules Verne ATV, an autonomous resupply rocket. It’s not just a major accomplishment in its own right for such a vessel to accomplish this mission unmanned; it’s also a major accomplishment that this much devotion to the ISS is coming from Europe. The ISS isn’t just a one-man-show. It’s an opportunity for us all to work together. It’s peace and love mixed with science and engineering. The ISS is a monument to togetherness. You can’t help but look at it and think we did that. Many nations combined their resources and expertise to provide a gateway into space that we can all use together. It’s beautiful.
